E&A College，covering an area of about 130000 square meters and a construction area of 90000 square meters, is situated in Qinhuangdao --- a beautiful coastal city adjacent to Bohai Sea, which boasts a favorable humanity environment for study. The college now has educational equipment and instruments worth 20 million RMB yuan, and a collection of 200 thousand books in the library. More than 1400 computers are available to the students in teaching. Language laboratories and multi-medium classrooms can provide more than 4700 seats for the students. The college has also established Bases for Engineering Practice & Training, Public Laboratories, Laboratories for Specialized Courses and off-campus Bases for Practicum. The College now has more than 250 full–time teachers, 34% of whom are professors or associate professors and 42% of whom has Master’s or Doctor’s degrees, providing education to almost 5000 students on the campus, 3700 of whom are degree students. With the Department of Business Administration, the Department of Humanity & Arts, the Department of Information Technology and the Department of Mechanical & Electronic Engineering, E&A College now offers 13 undergraduate degree programs and 9 diploma programs(tertiary vocational education)---- International Economics and Trade, Human Resource Management, Marketing, Information Management and Information System, Engineering Management, English, Law, Computer Science and Technology, Network Engineering, Mechanical Design & Manufacturing and Automation, Electrical Engineering and Automation, Electronic Information Engineering and Financial Accounting Education. The college recruits students from all parts of China according to the national higher education recruitment plan approved by the Chinese Ministry of Education.
E&A College implements earnestly the Regulations of the People's Republic of China on Chinese-Foreign Cooperation in Running Schools and persistently explores the educational mode with the Chinese culture integrated with Western culture. The college has been active in the introduction and rational use of advanced concept of running schools and excellent educational resources. So far, the Canadian courses and textbooks the college has adopted in teaching amounts to 1/3 of all the courses offered and textbooks used at E&A College. The classes conducted bilingually also amounts to 1/3 of all the classes at E&A College. Sticking to the concept of “English as a Brand and Engineering as a Feature”, E&A College lays emphasis on intensive training in English language and professional abilities. The students enrolled by E&A College can apply to register to study Medicine Hat College courses at E&A College. The credits for the registered Medicine Hat College courses at E&A College will be recognized by both Medicine Hat College and Hebei Normal University of Science & Technology if the students pass the required examinations. Students can choose to apply to study at Medicine Hat College after they have studied for two years at E&A College.
E&A College attaches great importance to teaching. Centering round teaching and strengthening management in teaching, E&A College always places improvement of quality of education in the first place. The rate of the first employment of the graduates has always been above 90%. The number of undergraduate students who pass postgraduate entrance examinations to be enrolled by key universities such as Renmin University of China, Communication University of China, University of International Business and Economics, has been increasing year by year. Almost 100 students go to study abroad every year. Wang Xiao Kun won the national championship of 2006 Sprite Show Myself. Duan Ya Hui and some other students won the Third Prize for “ Challenge Cup” at a Hebei Provincial competition for college students. In 2008, Yang Ming Yue won the First Prize for the Star of Outlook English Talent Competition hosted by CCTV in the final competition for the college students group of Hebei Province. Tang Hui won the Third Prize for National English Contest for College Students.
Sticking to the educational concept of “absorptive, creative, practical and advanced”, and with cultivation of international talents for the society as its duty, E&A College makes every effort to strengthen its reform and keeps being creative in order to make the college a Sino- Foreign joint educational institution famous both at home and abroad.
